Pink Shoes

Women have this obsession with shoes.

Funny that a pair of really nice shoes make us feel good in our heads - at the extreme opposite end of our bodies.

Film & Fashion: Rear Window

credit: ryy79 on YoutTube

Neighbors can be a bitch. Or sometimes, like in the 1954 Hitchcock film Rear Window, they can be wife-murdering bastards.

This classic thriller from the Master of Suspense is about a photographer named Jeff (played by one of my favorites James Stewart) who amuses himself by spying on his neighbors as he recuperates from a broken leg. Things get serious when he begins to suspect that one of them killed his wife and might be getting away with murder. (Yes, kids, Disturbia was just a modern retelling of this one.)

"They all said at first that she was too cold, sexless. But to me she was always... a snow-covered volcano."
Alfred Hitchcock on Grace Kelly

The divine Grace Kelly plays Lisa Fremont, his high society (hah! get it?) girlfriend, who tries to collect evidence and solve the crime while wearing an oh-my-god enviable wardrobe. Well, there's no rule that says otherwise, right?

The one responsible for making these wonderful outfits is costume designer Edith Head who has the distinction of winning eight Academy Awards which is the most in history. She definitely deserves it for this one and I'll be sure to check out the rest of her works.

A dress fit for a Princess.

On the other hand, there is Grace Kelly who I absolutely adore. I consider her as one of the most beautiful people who ever graced (pardon the pun) the movie screen. Even though everyone was happy when she became a real life princess by marrying into the Monaco royal family, it's also a pity that she didn't make movies anymore.

She asks, "How do I look?" Honey, do you even have to ask?

She climbs over a fire-escape railing in this dress!

This is my favorite out of all the outfits. I'm in love with this dress. The florals, the sheerness, the skirt... it's just so perfect. I want to go to picnic wearing this dress complete with the hat and everything. I want to learn how to sew just so I can own a dress like that. But if you're like me who can't sew a straight line, just check out these similar dresses I found in Mango's Spring 2011 Nude Collection Lookbook. I know I will.

It's just the long skirt and it's not as yellow as Grace Kelly's dress, but I think it really looks similar.

I guess this is a short dress version of that skirt.

Product Love: Floral Tin Cans from Japan Home Center (Daiso)

Polka-dots + Florals = Win

Japan Home Center is so addictive.

I can't resist popping in and browsing through all the merchandise. I usually walk out with nothing, but sometimes you find something that you suddenly realize you can't live without. And at that irresistible price of only Php 88, why not?

One of my finds is this set of floral tin cans which were at Php 88 each. Of course, I wondered why they were the same price when the other two were smaller...

As usual, I bought them without knowing what I was going to put in them, but I'm sure I can find a use for them somehow. :P

A Mood In Pink

A Mood In Pink

Do you have a mood board?

I've been working on mine since last year. I've just finished it but now I think I want to change it up again. I guess I have to learn how to make it faster...

This feels right for the season, though. Pink and white Sakura blossoms for March-April. I love looking at it and becoming inspired, feeling sweet and pretty.

Some little silk roses that I put in a pocket I made out of wrapping papers. The ladybug pin blends right in.

I wanna be sweet like Sandara... she always makes me smile. :)

An inspiring quote I found from the blog Whimsical Being.

A few of my favorite things: Lace. Origami. Fairies. Necklaces. Clothespins. Typewriters.

Why don't you try... Mismatched Earrings

my cupcake and ice cream earrings

Random, weird fact about me: I have asymmetrical ears. By that, I mean my left ear is different from my right that if you only saw my ears, you would think that each belonged to a different person. Yes, I am a freak of nature. One good thing about it - I have an excuse for being a dud on the dance floor.

Despite this, it never occurred to me to wear different, mismatched earrings. At least, not until I came upon this cute stud earring set at a bazaar.

I quickly snapped them up and, despite feeling silly at first, began wearing them. I find that it adds a little fun and whimsy to my outfit. Of course, I won't be putting them on to a business meeting or something formal like that. But for the weekend when I'm just hanging with friends, that cupcake and ice cream cheers me right up!

I imagine that there are a lot of bazaars and online stores that sell this type of earrings, but I think the ones in Accessorize are really pretty. I especially like the Teatime set. They sell for Php 750 and you get 10 eclectic but complementary earrings.

But if you're on a tight budget, why not try mixing up the earrings in your jewelry box? Even better, try it with a friend for a bigger pile to experiment on.

Dara for Etude Precious Mineral BB Cream

credit: etudeblog

Dara's new CF for Etude is out!

After being Miss Tangerine, Dara of uber-cool girl group 2NE1 extends to endorsing Etude's Precious Mineral BB Cream.

What's BB Cream?

BB Cream or Blemish Balm Cream was originally prescribed by dermatologists for post-surgery cover-ups and for its healing properties. But the effect on the skin was so good that it became sought after as everyday make-up by Korean celebrities. Soon after, cosmetic companies began selling this miracle cream to the public.

My first experience with BB Cream was in Japan where I impulsively bought a BB Cream Morning Makeup Set. I couldn't help it because it was all pink and packaged nicely! But when I used it - wow! I became a firm believer in the product.

I haven't used Etude's BB Cream yet, but for sure - now that Dara is endorsing it, I'll be sure to score one for myself!

Dara looks so fresh in this CF and I must say that Etude definitely chose the right person for their campaign. I mean, look at that skin!

*sighs* Dara, why so cute?

Check out the HQ pics (and a download link to all 99 of them!) plus a Behind The Scenes look at the making of the CF.
