September Wish List

It's too early for a Christmas Wish List, but it's my birth month so I figured I'm due for a birthday wish list. I'm not one to ask for presents. In fact, I don't receive that many gifts now that I think about it. I tamp down my bitterness by thinking that it's always better to give than to receive. Yeah, keep thinking that Self.

But I do have my eye on the following goodies. I figured I'm due for some retail therapy and pampering, as a birthday gift for myself. I'll worry about where to get my cousins' tuition and allowance next month. Haha... (Oh shit)

Of course, my wish list has got to have this. I've been waiting for this book ever since I read about it and I'm stalking the reviews every.single.day. Unfortunately, I am not kidding. The book comes out on September 13th, which means it's 14th here on my part of the world and, as fate would have it, also my birthday. If that isn't meant to be, then I don't know what is. Eve and Roarke(!) for my birthday. Oh yeah.

What's a birthday girl without a pretty dress? Well, we were born naked but... Anyway! Pretty dresses! Sigh.

I love Ichigo shoes. They're so comfortable and they're really affordable too! I'm restraining from buying shoes because my friends tell me I've got too much of them already (*rolls eyes* I know, right?) but I think my shoe rack can make room for these cuties. I already have nude flats, but since an unfortunate decision on my part to bring it to Mr. Quickie, I may have to exchange it for this one by Ichigo. Or I could settle for the grey one. Or maybe both? And the brown sandal's low heel is just perfect when I want the height but not the HEIGHT, if you know what I mean.

For months now I have been searching for the perfect brown bag. Now I think I finally found it. I was never a fan of the Longchamp bag and wondered why everyone was crazy about them, but now I appreciate the simplicity of it. It will probably go with everything I own and wear. I'm severely tempted to buy the fake, but I think I'm going to save up to buy the original. I'm still not comfortable paying thousands of pesos for a single bag so this means I won't be getting this anytime soon. Maybe Christmas? But still, maybe the universe will find a way to give this to me this September. Cross fingers!

I've posted about this before, but I haven't found a local seller... then. What do I do now that I found one? Drool and agonize about it, of course.

Oh the things I can do with this! I'll be mod podging all the way to next year!

Okay, technically not for me... but Ate Nan really wants to watch this. She hasn't said this explicitly, but she's such a fan of this year's winner Scotty that she even texted me when he won. I think she even cried. I really want to give her this, but I already spent a lot on the 2NE1 concert earlier this year and this is more expensive that that! Anyway, we'll see...

And if I don't get anything on this list (except for the J.D. Robb book which I will be getting come hell or high water), I would be perfectly happy with just a box of Goldilocks egg pie. I love my egg pie, after all. :)

D.I.Y. Winged Shoes

Dara fans would already be familiar with her favorite winged shoes that were part of Jeremy Scott's line for Adidas. I've coveted the same shoe, partly because Dara has it and mostly because they are so freaking cool.

Admittedly, I am not a sneaker kind of girl, but I found myself going to Adidas stores here in the Philippines trying to find the shoe and not having any luck so far. 

Well, problem solved. Err... Somewhat. I happened to stumble upon this awesome idea from I Am Momma - Hear Me Roar. Check out how she made a simple pair of sneakers into (da-dan!) SUPERHERO WINGED SHOES!

Now, I want to go make these for my nieces and nephews for Christmas!

Maybe I'll pass on the winged shoes and leave it to the young folks. I would settle for the winged hoodies - which Dara also wore. (I'm not Dara obsessed - much - they're just really cool, I tell you!)

We came for the shoes...

What is it about women and shoes? I swear, if my living space and wallet could afford it, I'll do my best to beat Imelda's record. That's why, even though I had resolved to limit myself from spending money (tipid mode muna), I still couldn't resist going to this year's I'm Shoe In Love - a shoe fair that ran from July 9 to 10 at the NBC Tent.

We got there early on the first day, but there was already a long line in front. It's a good thing that I had my EastWest card with me and I got to bypass the long line, get inside for free, and get a free tote bag in the process.

My friend really wanted to go Virtual Mae's booth because they had a promo for free shoes but only until supplies lasted so we went directly there. Unfortunately, my friend wasn't able to find something she liked, or at least - something in her size.

There were some online shops that I frequent that had booths there: Cole Vintage, Trunk Show, and Frolic among others. I tried on this pair of heeled oxfords (?) from Cole Vintage that I saw on The Ramp the other day but ended up not buying it.

What I did end up buying this pair of peep toe ankle boots. They are really comfy and a steal at only Php 500.

I'm already thinking about what outfit to wear this with...

Lots of shoes for sale and if you really have a shoe fetish, you'll go gaga over all of the shoes over there. I saw a lot of people happily walking out with bags full of shoe boxes.

We were a bit disappointed, though, about the number of booths/sellers. I guess we were hoping for more. I don't know if this is the first one of its kind but maybe in time there will be more exhibitors who will participate. I also hope that the local shoemakers from Marikina will be represented next time.

Ate Nan with our purchases (90% of them were the clothes we bought for 3 for Php 100 - yeah, we're cheap like that!)

Since we were in the area anyway and a bit disappointed by our shopping haul, we walked a little bit and arrived at Bonifacio High Street. I went in Muji and goggled over the items. Horribly expensive, but I want them all!

We eventually ended up in Market! Market! where items were more wallet friendly and had a lot of choices. I bought two dresses and two shirts. When I went home I realized that I basically bought the same colors for the shirts and the dresses: blue and violet.

 I'm sensing a trend...

 Ended the day by going through the stash of flyers and calling cards that I got from the event.

 Most of these ended up in the trash. Sorry.

Oh, and on the way home, we went by McDonald's Drive Thru and bought four spaghetti and chicken value meals so our Coke glass collection is now complete!

I wonder if we'll ever use these glasses...

  
Now the weekend's over and it's back to work again... Let's all have a happy and productive week!

At least I could wear ballet shoes...

When every girl on our block was getting piano, singing, and ballet lessons when they were young, I was the one who was getting my hands dirty with paint and learning how to use Wordpad.

I've always complained about this, thinking that this was the cause of my absolute lack of musical talent.

Oh well... even if I didn't learn how to dance ballet, at least I could wear these cute ballet shoes.

Quick story about it... I first saw a similar pair at Topshop which costs about Php 1,300 (I think). Too expensive for me, but I really liked it. I shopped around for a little bit when I came upon a canvas version over at Shoebox for Php 699, but it wasn't exactly the design I was looking for so I skipped it. Then I was on my way home when I passed through Landmark and saw this pair by Julia selling for only Php 499! The way it was going, I would've probably found an even cheaper version but I didn't want to take my chances.

Really happy with my purchase. I don't have beige/nude colored shoes before so I'm eager to try it out with everything in my closet. And best of all, it's so comfy that I think I'm going to abuse them all the time.
